Please tell me y'all have met this kid.

If you haven't, do yourself a favor and stop reading this and go watch this:

That hysterical kid is Robby and he's got a lot to say, like most of the kids in our world. The problem is we don't take the time to always listen. We're quick to demand they listen to us, but we don't always take the time to hear what they have to say. 

Our kids want to better the world they live in. Yes, they can be ornery and hateful at times (I do have some experience in this thanks to the lovely age group I spend all day with!), but deep down in their heart of hearts they want to help others and bring good to those around them. 

I think we should all take Robby's advice and be more awesome for this world and stop coming up with excuses not to!

Spring Break-Day 3

We awoke bright and early Monday morning ready to hit the road to Charleston! One minor problem, David was on his last pair of contacts. After a quick pit stop at the eye doctor's office we were on our way!

After 4 hours of interstate driving and almost an hour of traffic in Charleston we were finally aboard. . .

From the moment we stepped on board we were busy exploring all there was to see and do while we waited for Caroline and Steve to join us.

 Gotta love the billowing hair as we set sail.

After the obligatory test run of sinking procedures we headed to the dining room for our first evening of gorging ourselves. Our waitstaff, Andrew and Boris, were absolutely hysterical and had us in fits of giggles the entire time. We opted for the "choose your time" dining plan, but we fortunate enough to have these two gentlemen every evening!

Following supper (forgot pictures this evening-sorry!) we headed to the "lounge" for the evening's activities. On the schedule? A trivia game! The first round was full of random questions, but all four of us were pretty confident with our answers. When the second round came around they were in search of some new faces and thanks to David's enthusiasm they chose him!

He didn't win it all due to a minor Star Wars/Terminator blunder. He did earn a pretty sweet Carnival Cruises medal! Score! 

Following the show we briefly hit up the casino where I learned the very addictive game of video poker before we returned to our home away from home:

Two Years Down, Many To Go!

Today marks the day that my sweet hubby and I have been married two whole years! Eeeek! I'm still having trouble wrapping my brain around the fact that we've been a part of the "married club" for two whole years. Not to mention, this pretty much marks the end of our tenure as newlyweds. While that saddens me a bit, it's also pretty exciting. In the past two years we have overcome so much and learned even more about each other. Some of the highlights. . .

truly living out the "in sickness and in health" part of our vows and coming back to the health side of things.

overcoming hundreds of miles between us while he was working in Alabama.

conquering work stress that threatened to place a stake in our marriage and stay put. No worries, we're learning to kick that uninvited mess to the curb!

supporting each other as we chase our dreams together.

making sure God stays at the center of our relationship and any decisions we make.

remembering to laugh at the situations and each other. After all, "a day without laughter is a day wasted".

These are just a few of the highlights. There have been so many moments that have sent us up, down, and all around this past year. I am full of hope and prayer for what the next fifty, sixty, and maybe even seventy years hold for us! A few pictures from our big day. . .

Rapid Rewind

It's been another whirlwind of a weekend, and the crazy/wonderful fun will only continue in the next week! A rapid rewind:

I'm heading to the beach with The Momma for a few days, then back home for a bit, then back to the beach with my sweet hubby to celebrate our anniversary! Anyone interested in stepping in and writing a post or two for my little corner of the internet??

Today's Thankful Thursday post is dedicated to my sweet husband, David, who has been such a rock during this crazy month.

I have never met anyone funnier than my hubby. He cracks me up with his random voices and child-like perspective on life. He reminds me to laugh when all I want to do is cry.

passion for life

David's passion for life is incredible. He always wants to live life to the fullest no matter the circumstances or what everyone else says. 

support

His continuous support of me is inspiring. He asks me on a regular basis how work is going, how I'm feeling, what he can do to make me happy, etc. He is serious awesome sauce.

flexibility

Homeboy knows how to roll with the punches, something I am not very good at. 

faith

His ever-growing faith is a wonderful guide for our family!

Boo's Big Weekend Part 2

I'm back with more details from Boo's Big Weekend! Sidenote: In case you were wondering who exacly "Boo" was, he is my (not so little anymore) brother. Boo has been his nickname since he was a kid. He won't admit but he loves it;-)

Saturday morning we were up and at 'em early again to head to the university graduation. Davido and I skipped this one when we graduated mainly because we just didn't see the point. We thought our departmental graduation would be more important. Due to the awesomeness of TJ, and the fact that is now a commissioned officer in the USMC, he was being honored at the ceremony. Of course we were going to go if he was being honored! The newly commissioned officers from all four branches were asked to stand at the beginning of the ceremony and the audience gave them a standing ovation. How neat is that?!? We were all so excited to see them recognized!

The ceremony dragged on after that. Since NCSU is such a large school they don't call the name of every undergraduate or masters student (thank heavens! The processional alone took over an hour), but they do call the names of those who received their doctorate. Rightfully so too. Those guys and gals worked their booties off!

Hey, Ma! I'm on TV!

One of the more exciting parts of the three and a half hour long event (thank goodness for smartphones and iPads!) was getting to hear Phillip Rivers speak. P. Riv as I like to call my bud (no we have never actually met but I am quite certain we would get along very well if we ever did. . .) gave the commencement speech since he was a 2003 graduate of NCSU. It was a neat speech all about faith, family, and football-three of my most favorite things.

Immediately following we skedaddled on back to campus for the departmental graduation. The emcee was a gregarious old professor who finished the ceremony with an experiment. I was quickly reminded with all the big words and equations why I did not do so well in Chem 101. . . One of the neatest parts of the ceremony was when they asked all the graduates to take a flower to the person in the audience who supported them the most in their tenure at NCSU. TJ chose the Momma and had her in tears.

I also can't forget to share that just prior to the ceremony Momma had a bit of a snafu. She thought we were going upstairs for the ceremony so when my dad went through a door she followed him without thinking. Well, she followed him right into the men's restroom. I was laughing so hard I almost wet my pants while waiting for the women's restroom.

Giggles

Who doesn't love laughing?? Show me someone who claims that don't enjoy laughing and I'll show you a liar. Everyone enjoys a good giggle now and then. One of my favorite qualities about my husband is his child-like outlook on things that always brings on a good laugh. That ability to find the humor in all situations in especially important when things get stressful, like life right now.

It's that time of year again for teachers. The "long haul". There are almost no days off until Spring Break which makes for very tired, overwhelmed teachers and students. We're also rapidly approaching our End of Grade tests. So, for those of you not in education just take my word for it when I say things are a bit cray-cray. Which is why it is essential to find the laughter in all situations. A few things that have me laughing right now. . .

The Target ad for the release of "Breaking Dawn" on DVD. I mean I love the Twilight series as much as the next girl, but a formal invitation to purchase the DVD?? Give me a break.
