Another Busy Weekend

Last week was one of the craziest of the school year-conference week. Our plannings and after school hours are packed with back-to-back parent conferences and we have a late night at school to help accommodate working parents. I love the purpose behind it and the opportunity to connect with parents, but man, am I tired by the end of the week! Come Friday I was ready to leave school behind and enjoy some time with David.

Our weekend kicked off with a wonderful supper with some even more wonderful people, Brian and Noelle. We've known Brian for a while now but this supper was our first chance to meet his girlfriend, Noelle. We met Brian through our church and in the time we've known him he has become one of David's best friends. Sadly, he is leaving us to head back to New York to be closer to Noelle. I can't really blame him since she's such a fun girl:-)

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early for a hair appointment. If you've seen me recently you know this was wayyyyyy overdue. My girl, Karen, worked her magic and gave me an updated look very different from what I walked in with. It will certainly take some getting used to, but I love it!
Yes, I am wearing a scarf in the house. Yes, it is that cold.

That afternoon our friend Ed joined us. He didn't come up from Charlotte, or even drive down from Raleigh-Ed rode his bike from Winston-Salem to hang out. Crazy, right?!? He has a goal to ride his bike to a different North Carolina city each weekend in November. His trip to us wasn't even his longest at 70 miles. To get to Raleigh is over a hundred!

This is a video he made about his journey from NC to CA!

Once he showered and rested we headed down to NoDa, our go-to place for out of town guests. We chowed down on some Cabo Fish Taco before we headed back to the house. Before we headed home, though, I got to try Tier 3's Pumking beer. A bit heavier than any other pumpkin beer, but definitely worth the try.

Good thing this is a short week because I'm already counting down to this weekend!

The Repeating Question

To cut or not to cut, that is the question.

Cut what? My hair. I may have lost some of you with that right there, but I'm sure others of you are nodding right along with me. It seems that every time I cut my hair short, I love it for a few weeks. Then, I get impatient with it and began to wish it longer again. So, I start the dreaded process of growing it out and getting past that "awkward" stage. You know the one in which your hair does nothing that you want it to do and everything you don't want it to do. I finally get it to a long length that I like, then I decide it looks flat and dull and cut it. The exhausting cycle starts over.

My hairdresser likes my hair short. She's right, it does look more polished that way, but there is just something about having long hair and being able to do more with it. It's easier to throw up into a pony or whip into a braid. You can do all sorts of fun things with short hair, but it's just different things.

Here are examples of my hair at each length:

Longer

 Shorter

What are y'alls thoughts?? Two separate Christmases, two separate styles/lengths. I have an appointment scheduled for Saturday and I'd love some input before I head in there!

Short Hair, Don't Care

Well the straight-hair girls, they all want curls
And the brunettes wanna be blonde
It's your typical thing, you've got yin, you want yang
It just goes on and on
-Sara Evans

When it comes to hairstyles, I can never seem to make up my mind. I am the worst when it comes to what I want to do. The funny thing is, you could never tell I'm so wishy-washy. In fact, 99% of the time my hair looks the same! I just dream of doing other things. The most common dilemma? Long or short. Long hair is definitely in right now. Every starlet from T. Swift to Lauren Conrad is rocking the wavy long hair these days. Then again a few braver souls, such as Dianna Agron, have ventured out and chopped their locks.

I go through phases with what I like. One month I'll make David promise not to let me go to the salon. The next month I'm begging to fit it into the budget. I can never make up my mind! It really comes down to when I see people with cute hair. If I see someone with a really sharp short 'do, I'm ready and roarin' to go. Then the next minute I see someone with beautiful, wavy locks and I'm rubbing my head to try and make it grow faster. Exhausted trying to keep up? Me too.

About a week ago I got tired of doing the dance and hit the salon. I tried a fabulous new place near me and couldn't be happier with the end result! I went in with a loose idea and my stylist, Karen, took it to the next level. I am so pleased with it!

Have I second guessed it yet? Nope! Will I eventually? Probably. I'm not worried though. I love what she did and I think I'm going to stick at this length for a while. What do y'all think??
