Hi Everyone!
My name is Mia and I blog over at MsMiaMaree! That is where I like to say stilettos meet football. Being the girly girl that I am I went and married a football coach. Boy do we have stories. He doesn’t get me sometimes and I don’t get him, but we make one heck of a team! I blog about everything. Fashion, Beauty, Life, Books, etc.

I am one of Mrs. Lauren Mobley’s newest followers and I am so drawn to her blog because of the goals she set for herself. I love her 30 before 30 list! This has made me start crafting one of my own.

I’m 25, so my before 30 list can span the next 5 years! This has made me start thinking about shorter goals for myself specifically this Spring.

Musts for this Spring:

1. Take Full Advantage of all the gorgeous bright colors this season has brought to the Fashion World. Tangerine = my favorite!

 

2. Are you tired of being so pale? I’m very much looking forward to days out in the sun! Wear Sunscreen!!

 

3. Buy a colorful pot and plant an even more colorful flower!

 

4. Looking for some great beach reads? Join goodreads.com and explore the entire book world and connect with friends! You can find me on there: msmiamaree

5. Get some fresh air! Go on a walk, browse local flower gardens, get a bit of exercise!
 

6. Plan a Summer Trip. I get antsy this time of year stuck inside at a desk. Give yourself a break and plan a fun summer vacation. On a budget? I can guarantee there is a cool place tucked somewhere close to you. Make it a day trip and explore your city! These sometimes end up being the best trips!

Wordless Wednesday [04.04]

Tales of Toes (Or Lack Thereof)

It's never dull in our world that's for sure. Whether it's kidneys revolting, a pup destroying our new house, or other random adventures, the Mobleys certainly don't struggle in keeping others entertained. The fun continued yesterday with my sweet husband taking an unexpected trip to Urgent Care. Let me back up. . .

Sunday evening his big toe started causing him some pain. Nothing extreme, just slight pain. He shook it off as nothing really. The next morning, as he was walking around, it began to hurt more. He talked to some work peeps about it and texted me a picture at work. FYI the rest of this post is not for the faint of heart. . .

Bleck.

Now, I'm no doctor but I was able to determine pretty quickly that whatever was coming off the side of his toe was just not normal. Needless to say I told him in the nicest way possible to get his booty to the doctor! For anyone who knows my husband you know that convincing him to go to the doctor is on par with convincing a cat to get into the bathtub-it just ain't happenin'. It's not that he is scared of the doctor, he is just more of the "I'm going to let nature run its course" mindset. I was raised in the "the help is there, let's go get it" mindset. You can imagine how conversations go in our house when someone has the sniffles! With some coaxing from me and his work peeps he decided to go get it looked at.

I began receiving text updates after that every few minutes. Apparently the doctor (not his usual doctor) took one look at it and decided it needed to be removed. Not just the ingrown part, but the whole flippin' toenail. I think if that's all they had told him it would have been a different story, but the fact that the nurse even mentioned the chance of his toenail not growing back about put him over the edge!

That's when the texts/phone calls starting increasing in frequency. Poor kid wasn't about to say adios to his toenail without a fight and a few extra opinions. We tried calling The Momma (also a nurse) but didn't get a response (how dare she decide to work when we needed her most!) as well as a few others who had fought the battle against ingrown toenails. In the end it was determined that the toenail had to go. Must to my hubby's displeasure they numbed it up and did their thang. This was the next image I received:

The doctor prescribed a few things to help with the pain and fight off any infection and he was on his pitiful way. He proceeded to spend the rest of the evening resting on the couch and hobbling around. Like I said, we don't do dull in our house!

Spring Cleaning

The beast that is "Spring Cleaning" has entered our home. Joy. It's not like we're filthy people and I'm attempting some ridiculous task. It's just that cleaning a house top to bottom is a little different than cleaning an apartment top to bottom. Not to mention more time-consuming! Some of the things on my list over the next few days

vacuum stairs (HATE this!)

So, happy homemakers, what am I missing? This list seems way too short to be everything!

Adventures as Adults

Happy Sunday, y'all! I hope wherever you are reading this, you are enjoying as beautiful weather as we are here in North Carolina. All the windows are open and I am currently writing this from our back patio. Bliss. This weekend was a wonderful way to kick off my Spring Break. We began by heading into the city to see David's brother, John, beat up on some boys during a game of rugby! I knew nothing about this sport before John started playing. Heck, who am I kidding? I still know nothing, but it sure is fun to watch!

We ended the evening running some errands and hitting up Sweet Frog for some delicious froyo.

We both crashed pretty early thanks to the long days we had had. The next morning we were up bright and early ready for the day. After a delectable breakfast and some time with our boy, Gordon Ramsey, on Kitchen Nightmares we headed to the local farmer's market. It was a little late in the day, so everything was pretty picked over at that point. What we did find was some tomato plants! We had talked about growing our own tomatoes for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. If only we knew what we were getting ourselves into. . .

After purchasing our three little plants we headed to Lowes to pick up the appropriate supplies. After much deliberation and discussion in the Garden section we determined we had not earthly idea what we were doing. Who knew there were so many options of soil, pots, stakes, etc when it came to growing a few tomatoes! We ended up with one of those upside down tomato kits, but since we already had the plants we just tossed the seeds. Clearly we were not meant to be farmers.
