They have returned and I am stoked! This is such a special time for us because it's when we talk life. We get to debrief our days, share our thoughts, and just be. They are particularly wonderful when it is a beautiful 75 degrees out!

I love that it is staying brighter out even longer. It's so nice not to look out the window at 5pm and see a pitch black abyss!

I am so thankful for all the support I get from my blog peeps! I still can't get over the fact that anyone wants to hear what I have to say let alone be kind about it. It's a great feeling!

Community Group

These people are wonderful. The end. The love and compassion they show for us despite our brokenness is inspiring. This is the type of community God called us to live in!

Wordless Wednesday [03.14]

Charmed

I have always been a fan of charm bracelets. There is just something about having a wide array of sparkly, dangly jewelry that appeals to this girl. No surprise there! My momma bought me my very first charm bracelet when I was in fifth grade and for every significant occasion she would buy me a charm to symbolize it. As I got older my bracelet filled up so she bought me another. That too filled up pretty quickly. What can I say, life is pretty exciting as me:-)

Two Christmases ago she continued the tradition, this time in a bigger way-she got me a Pandora bracelet! I had been ogling them for a while but wasn't sure if I was ready to take the plunge yet. Momma must have read my mind. She began with one precious charm and now my bracelet has grown to nine! Each one is special to me for its own reason; they all have their own stories. Here is what I have collected so far:

The heart (also from my momma) for Valentine's Day 2011. It made even more sense when a few weeks later my sister's heart started acting up!

AND

The "forever together" and the pearl dangle are both from my wonderful hubby for our first anniversary. He thought this one out too! The "forever together" is to represent our marriage and the pearl is the birthstone of June-the month we were married! He's a keeper:-)

The house came from my brother and his sweet girlfriend for my birthday this past year. It was to symbolize our first home together!

For those of you not familiar with the pineapple, it is a sign of "welcome" and Southern hospitality. I have a thing for pineapples and love to collect them. My wonderful in-laws gifted me with this for my birthday my past year. Appropriately it was bought in Charleston, SC where the pineapple is the symbol of the city!

The owl is the symbol of my sorority, Chi Omega. The momma bought me this one for my birthday this past year. I racked up on my birthday, huh?!

This sweet pup was given to me by Momma this past Christmas to represent Daisy. The fact that I have two charms to represent her did not get past me. What can I say, she is the princess after all. . .

I received this charm this past Valentine's day from Momma. 

I love how simple, yet elegant, all the charms are and I can't wait to add more to the list! I may or may not have a bit of a wishlist going at a local boutique-type store. . .

Bits of Splendor Link-Up!

I read her fabulous blog on a regular basis and felt compelled to link-up today thanks to the fabulous day that was had yesterday. Laura blogs about the its of wonderful, or splendor, that she finds in her day to day. I fully believe that it is the little moments in life that make life the incredible thing that it is. If we are too busy racing around only focusing on the big details, we miss all the little ones!

Yesterday I posted about the precious baby cow one of the "Sammies" has blessed the farm with. It was so exciting for this city girl to see the calf stumbling around after its momma. It was so cute with its adorable face. Too bad Momma Sammie was not interested in letting it come near the fence. I'll be back out there this afternoon with carrots and apples to see if I can lure it over for a better picture! David and I are also taking name suggestions. We have the Chick-fil-A cow (I'll give you one guess what it looks like), the Sammies (two brown cows that we can't really tell apart), Big Ben (a BIG mean-looking black cow), and Bambi (this was the littlest one last August when we moved in and he reminded us of Bambi).

The day got even better as it warmed up. I had quite a lot of school to do (the work of a teacher never ends!) but I was able to move to our front porch by the afternoon. I plunked myself down in one of the fabulous rocking chairs my husband made. I sat there for hours catching up on school work and soaking in the Vitamin D. The only thing missing was a glass of wine but I figured that wouldn't be a good idea considering I was working on some grading!

The day of wonderful continued with a delicious supper of grilled pork chops, baked sweet potatoes, and roasted asparagus. Mm mm mm! It was the perfect meal to finish off the weekend. David and I then snuggled up on the couch to catch up on our new favorite show-Kitchen Nightmares. Never seen it? Get on hulu now! Gordan Ramsay is so lovingly harsh you can't help but love him for what he's doing. We discovered this weekend that hulu has THREE seasons of it! If we don't answer our phones in the evenings for the next few weeks, you know why. . .

Animal House

It seems that today has been full of animal encounters for the merry mrs. mobley. On the way to church this morning I was just tootling down the road when all of the sudden I noticed a flock (?) of geese crossing the road. Very random considering I was in the middle of Charlotte and there was no water to be found. It wasn't until I looked on the other side of the road and I saw lots of devastation. Where there used to be a pond was a muddy hole. In order to made way for the last branch of I-485 they have completely destroyed an area of land. The geese, and I'm sure many others, have been displaced because of it.

Then, after an uneventful trip I arrived home from church. The princess started doing her whine and dance at the door (I really need to record this one day-it's quite humorous!) so I quickly let her out. She did her business then noticed her friend, Mr. Bill, across the street. Mr. Bill is one of the nicest old men I have ever met, and Daisy is pretty much obsessed with him. It may be the fact that every time she sees him he gives her a good 4 or 5 "cookies". Let's just say the princess have put on a few pounds since making Mr. Bill's acquaintance.

Anywho, she's gotten in this horrible habit of just darting across the street whenever she sees him outside, which is fairly often. Today was no different. What made today blog-worthy was how she did it. Normally I can let her out back while I work on school at the kitchen table. Well, I saw her creeping over to the side so I went out to fuss at her. She laid down in the grass, but continued to watch from afar. A few minutes pass and she crosses in front of the window and goes to her stick pile to collect a stick to chew on. Or so I thought. After she didn't appear about 5 seconds later I go outside and can't find her. That little brat had gone around the other side of the house so I couldn't see her sneak off to see Mr. Bill! Needless to say, a fence is in our very near future.

About 30 minutes later I was back to work and she was doing her dance at the door again. I look up to shush her when I see the cows! Y'all have seen plenty of pictures of these cows before. And I apologize, but I've got more. These things just tickle me to death! Well, today I have great news. . . we have a baby! Well, the cows do at least. One of the "Sammies" (a gender-neutral name we've decided on for the brown cows. We can' always tell which is which!) had a little baby calf tootlin' along behind her this afternoon. It even stumbled at one point. So precious! I should probably warn David that I've officially added a baby calf to my Christmas list along with one of the mini-horses. . .
